Terms of Use

Last updated: July 21, 2026

Agreement to terms

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Playlore’s websites, mobile apps, and related APIs (the “Service”). By using Playlore, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Playlore is intended for a general audience. You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 where that is the applicable age) to use the Service. If you use Playlore on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.

Privacy practices are described in our Privacy Policy. Platform positioning is also summarized on About.

What Playlore is

Playlore is an unofficial fan-created discovery and curation platform. Fans organize, rank, tag, and contextualize publicly available YouTube videos. Playlore is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any artist, record label, management company, YouTube, Google, or other rights holders unless a partnership is explicitly stated.

Playlore is a fan curation, discovery, ranking, and lore layer. It is not a music streaming service, a replacement YouTube client, or an official artist property. Playlore owns the curation layer (lists, rankings, tags, lore, and related product features), not the music or video. Playback is optional and is not the reward loop.

Accounts and eligibility

You may use Playlore anonymously with a device-stored id. You may optionally link an account (for example Google, Apple when available, or email magic link) to restore progress across devices (“Save Progress”). You are responsible for activity under your anonymous id or linked account and for keeping credentials secure.

Accounts are for one person. Do not share login credentials or create accounts to evade suspension. We may refuse, suspend, or terminate access when we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated or the Service is being abused.

License to use the Service

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use Playlore for its intended fan-discovery and curation purposes.

Except as allowed by law or with our prior written consent, you may not:

  • Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Service
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code except where legally permitted
  • Scrape, harvest, or bulk-export content in a way that overloads or abuses the Service
  • Misuse APIs, bypass rate limits, or automate access beyond normal client use
  • Sell, rent, or sublicense access to Playlore

User content

“User Content” means material you submit or create on Playlore, including lists, lore, tags, votes, rankings, collection metadata, comments, and similar contributions.

You retain rights you already have in your original User Content. By submitting User Content, you grant Playlore a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, moderate, and otherwise use that content as needed to operate, improve, promote, and protect the Service.

You represent and warrant that:

  • You have the rights needed to submit the User Content
  • Your content does not infringe others’ rights or violate law
  • Your content is not defamatory, harassing, or unlawfully deceptive
  • You will not present leaks, bootlegs, or unauthorized recordings as official content

We may remove or restrict User Content that violates these Terms or creates legal or safety risk. Reporting and moderation tools may expand over time; for now, contact legal@playlore.app to report concerns.

Prohibited conduct

You agree not to:

  • Infringe copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual-property rights
  • Upload, rehost, extract, or cache YouTube audio/video on Playlore systems
  • Impersonate artists, labels, or Playlore, or claim official affiliation or endorsement that does not exist
  • Circumvent YouTube region, age, embed, or availability restrictions
  • Reward, automate, or manipulate YouTube watch, like, share, subscribe, or other engagement actions in ways that violate YouTube policies (Playlore does not use watch-to-earn; do not build abuse around playback)
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse others
  • Distribute malware, attempt unauthorized access, or interfere with the Service
  • Scrape or misuse the Service in ways that harm users, partners, or rights holders

Third-party services (YouTube)

Playback is provided by YouTube. Availability, ads, and playback restrictions are controlled by YouTube and the video owner.

When Playlore offers playback, it does so via YouTube embeds or APIs. Your use of those features is also subject to YouTube’s and Google’s terms and policies. Playlore does not grant music or video licenses. Availability, ads, blocking, and takedowns are controlled by YouTube and content owners. You may need to “Open on YouTube” for some content.

See YouTube Terms of Service and Google’s Privacy Policy. Cookie and embed details also appear in our Privacy Policy.

Intellectual property

The Playlore name, branding, UI, software, and Playlore-created product materials are owned by the Playlore operator or its licensors. These Terms do not transfer ownership of that IP to you.

Artist names, marks, and likenesses may appear for identification, commentary, and fan curation only. You receive no license to use artist marks or likenesses for commercial misuse, ads, or to imply endorsement. Pages remain unofficial fan-created unless a partnership is explicitly stated.

Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or the accuracy or completeness of fan lore, rankings, tags, or other User Content.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PLAYLORE AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100) OR THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO PLAYLORE FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (CURRENTLY ZERO FOR FREE MVP USE). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Playlore and its operators from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your User Content, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

Termination

You may stop using Playlore at any time. You may request deletion of product data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service, users, or rights holders. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including licenses already granted to operate historical displays where needed, disclaimers, limitations, and indemnity) will survive termination.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the Playlore operating entity is organized, without regard to conflict of law rules — currently a placeholder until that entity and venue are confirmed. Courts in that jurisdiction will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, except where applicable consumer law requires otherwise. Nothing in these Terms limits non-waivable consumer protections in your home country.

Changes to terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Playlore after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. For material changes, we will take reasonable steps to provide notice (for example an in-app notice or updated link placement).
